2. Before entering politics, Walz was a high school social studies teacher and football coach. He also served in the Army National Guard for 24 years, retiring in 2005.
3. As governor, Walz has had several accomplishments, including signing a bill that ensures all K-12 students in the state have access to free breakfast and lunch on school days. He also signed a law that made Minnesota the first state to codify abortion rights in the aftermath of the U.S. Supreme Court's 2022 ruling in the case of Dobbs v. Jackson Women's Health Organization, which nullified Roe.
